We are inviting a group of people from ex-Yugoslavia and a few other coutnries to Sende Portugal. Idea is to bang with our heads to the wall, but also to work on peace-building, conflict transformation, and peaceful political participation.

Together with Youth Peace Ambassadors and Sende.

We will learn, create, talk, plan, but also enjoy the Atlantic Ocean and Setubal, colourful fishermen city, and we will eat, laugh, cry, pjevati naše pesme, eat even more, and build peaceful action with our creativity.

✈️ It’s free of charge (we will even cover your transport and flights).

👧 We are looking for 39 participants from North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo*, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium;

🌳👩🏽‍💻 Venue: Sende Portugal, a tiny village near Setubal in Portugal. Only 40 mins from Lisbon and 15 minutes from the Atlantic coast.

🗓️ Dates: Arrival on October 23rd and departure on October 30th of 2022

⏲️ Deadline for application: August 20th 2022, 11:00 AM (Sarajevo time or Pristina time or Belgrade or Zagreb or Skopje or Podgorica or Ljubljana. Yes, it’s all the same).

HERE IS THE PLAN:

Idea is to discover concepts on peace, various forms of violence, conflict, peace building, culture of peace and human rights;

But also to understand the importance of peaceful political participation and to map our realities. This one sounds heavy, we know. We will be sharing how violence is used in politics and how it affects local communities.

Aaaand, you never know, we might end up building one really loud action after this session.

We are going to create a safe space and build a small foundation for our future collaboration in the field of sustainable peace in political participation.

We will discover some powerful topics such as peaceful conflict transformation, dialogue creation, nonviolent communication, active listening, brave communication, street epistemology and empathy;

Then we will start planning 6 activities so we can tell to our world(back home) what we learned and shake some local realities with our say.

If this resonates with you, then please apply.

WHO CAN APPLY AND COME?

Age limit: 18 years old and older.

We would like to host people from different backgrounds and realities.

If you are still sick of the post Yugoslavian war and it’s consequences (like all systematic wrongs which inhabits our daily reality) and you would like to learn and answer with peaceful but brave creativity and communication, then come.

If you are interested in the Balkan conflicts, please join us.

(The last senctence sounds like an invitation to the conflict. But it’s not.)

If you are a creative who works with design, posters, crazy messaging, or with chips, lights and sensors, then we might need you too (while being interested in peace and conflict topics);

Are you a photographer of video maker? Sure.

Are you a young activist and leader active in political youth work?

You can come even if you are possibly involved in the political parties, youth councils and cooperation with decision makers.

You see, many of us escaped from ex-YU because of the political parties mess and we believe that they destroyed our future back home, but we have big hearts and we work on the peace. So, please welcome. Even if you are a political party member, but you believe in a change, down deep in your heart. (Hey, you need to look deeper).

We are also looking for community leaders and active multipliers at the local/regional/national levels within youth organisations.

And also change makers, students, and dreamers in the field of peace building or willing to develop their skills in this field.

Or maybe campaign builders (are you one of these who creates narratives for political parties from the shadow, come, come. We want to learn from you, reverse engineer it and answer with peaceful messaging).

HOW WE WILL WORK:

This is intensive training, where we use non-formal education. Workshops, games, liberty to discuss and to speak up, to challenge, to create and to build.

There will be a group of professional trainers who will run all sessions.

COSTS:

Participation, food, accommodation and travel* is free of charge (dž, džabe, džaba, dzabe, ništa, nula, ma ne košta ništa).

Everything is fully covered by the organizers and powered by Erasmus+ programme.

But this is important:

*You will have a price limit for your travel. If you spend more, you will need to cover it from your pocket.

Also, you have to travel from the listed country (there is a good chance that you emigrated, so you can’t travel from your home country. We agree that this is not a fair rule, but it’s not our rule and we are sorry).

When you get selected, we will inform you about specific details, logistics, how to arrive, what to bring etc.

Maximum travel grant we can pay you back:

Travel costs limits:
a) Portugal — 20€
b) Spain — 180€
c) North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Kosovo*, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina — 360€
d) Germany, Slovenia , France and Belgium — 275€

ACCOMODATION

🏕️ You will sleep in a tent. Yes, maybe you didn’t see it coming, but these are very nice tents, infamously called “glampings”.

So if you love forest and nature, only 15 minutes from the beautiful Setubal bay which rests on the Atlantic, then you might consider coming.

You will eat well, sometimes fresh fish, and the other day Miki’s ćevapi and much more tasty foods. As we like to say: Peace start with the breakfast.

If you have any diet (vegan, vegetarian, alergies) we got you, no worries at all.
